  2. OSINT Rocks is free website that allows you to use popular tools like Ghunt, Sherlock, Maigret, Holehe, Ignorant, Hudson rock, lookup for Skype, Telegram, Whatsapp, and whois lookup.

OSINT Techniques

  1. When gathering information about a website, don't forget that Google indexes logs. With ‘filetype:log site:yourtarget’ or ‘filetype:log intext:targetrelatedkeyword’ you can find useful technical information for investigation. Tip by @AlHomaidNoor

  2. @BanPangar shared a method for finding emails/nicknames mentions in the text of web pages/docs with archive.org collection search. Help find a lot of things that don't show up in Google results. Don't forget the quotes.

  • Media Bias Fact-Check - This tool produces media bias ratings based on a website’s level and direction of bias, and also identifies questionable and conspiracy sources.

  • DomainIQ - provides details about domain ownership, hosting data, and other domains operated by the same owner. It helps track relationships between domains, making it easier to understand who might be behind a particular website.

OSINT Tips -

  1. Obtain an Audio Recording of a Court Case (not free) -
    If you are doing in-depth research on a court case you have the option to get an audio recording of the court proceedings. I have consistently found information about a case from court room audio that was available nowhere else.

    This process requires paying a fee and a bit of legwork. Click here to know more.

  2. Sites like apollo.io, aihitdata.com, contactout.com, and rocketreach.co are built to help recruiters and sales professionals track down potential candidates and leads. But they also contain a wealth of information on professionals, including employment history and contact details.

  3. Platforms such as thatsthem.com, searchpeoplefree.com, and truepeoplesearch.com allow you to enter an email address and discover other contact details like phone numbers, addresses, and even possible familial ties. These connections can provide context on the email owner, revealing links to cohabitants or past residences.

  4. In an era of widespread data leaks, breach databases like haveibeenpwned.com, leaklookup.com, and dehashed.com are powerful tools. They can tell you whether an email has been compromised in any known data breaches, and sometimes offer additional data tied to online accounts.

  5. To confirm if an email address is active and valid, use services like verifalia.com or zerobounce.net. These platforms also allow you to explore other email addresses that have similar usernames but differ by domain (for instance, the same user might have both a Gmail and Yahoo account).

  6. Tools like emailrep.io and synapsint.com can provide a deeper history of an email address, revealing the age of the account, any connections to social media platforms like LinkedIn or X (formerly Twitter), and more.

OSINT Techniques -

  1. Where to find the local court databases:
    Google is actually the easiest. Just google the county name and the phrase “court records”.

    • You can also go to the county government website which will have a section for the courts. There will be a subsection for “case information” that tells you how to search court records.

    • Many states have a single database that includes all of the counties’ court records.

    Telegram Database - A free tool to search for public channels, groups, and bots on Telegram.
    Lyzem - It allows users to find public conversations that mention key phrases or topics of interest, and can also uncover related channels, groups, and users.
    Tlgrm.eu/channels - Enter any name or keyword to find indexed channels on the platform, making it easier to locate relevant groups.
    Tgstat - free search tool to look for Telegram groups and channels by keywords or usernames.
    IntelX.io Telegram Search - free Telegram-specific search tool, providing advanced search capabilities across publicly available data on Telegram.
    archive.org Telegram Archive - This free archive can be used to access historical Telegram data and chat backups.

  3. OSINT Tools for investigating on Reddit -

    User Analyzer - This tool provides a breakdown of a Reddit user’s activity, giving insights into their posting patterns and engagement.

    RedditMetis - This tool allows you to see Reddit Statistics of any user including recent activity, comment and submissions summaries, word cloud, and more interesting stats.
    Redective - It provides a way to search for Reddit users and keywords across different subreddits.
    Reveddit - The tool will display removed posts and comments from Reddit, allowing you to see what was hidden.

  4. OSINT Tools for doing investigations on Twitter -
    TweetDeck - Monitor multiple timelines on a single screen. Track and organize content, and engage with your communities in real-time.
    Gephi - A social network analysis tool to visualize the interactions—retweets, mentions, replies—between users.
    Botometer X - It helps you detect bot-like behavior by analyzing patterns in account activity for older accounts.

  1. Nuclei - It is a fast, customizable vulnerability scanner powered by the global security community and built on simple YAML-based templates. It can be used to find information for interesting information from a website, including stuff that does not appear in the content.

  2. Spiderfoot - It’s an OSINT tool that integrates with just about every data source available and utilises a range of methods for data analysis, making that data easy to navigate.

  3. Google Factcheck Explorer - This tool allows you to easily browse and search for fact checks. For example, you can search for a politician's statement or for a topic. Another similar tool and website is AP Fact Check. FaceCheck.org, Snopes.com, Politifact, and Reuters Fact Check.

  4. CS Account Management - The tool’s main purpose is to try to figure out when a website was created. But I use it to find if a website exists in different internet archives. If the tool finds your website in an archive, it will list out a URL that brings you to that archive’s earliest version of your website.

  5. Carbon14 -
    OSINT tool for estimating when a web page was written.
    (I haven’t tested this personally, so let us know in the comments if it’s not working right now.)

  6. e-scraper - A Python script to extract unique email addresses from a list of specified domains. Read a how-to-use tutorial.

  7. Rootabout.com - A website to search for images in the Internet Archive.

  8. Etherscan.io - gain insights into Ethereum-based activities and track transactions in real-time.

  9. UrlScan.io - for scanning malicious URLs.

  10. Cisco Talos Intelligence - platform for gathering threat intel(search using IP, URL, domain, network owner, file SHA256)

OSINT Tips -

  1. Make sure you are NOT using the Way Back Machine’s search bar seen below. It does not have keyword search and only searches archived websites.
    Instead, use the main search bar, which has more options and supports keyword searches.

  2. How to find company Employees through Website Changes -
    Use Wayback Machine’s change feature to identify changes in the websites, specifically on pages having details about employees.

    Open the website(https://archive.org/), enter your query in the general search option, and select Search archived websites in the menu and search your query. Now, on the results page, you can select pastebin.com in the collection search menu.

    • Feodo Tracker: search IPs and network names and AS numbers

    • SSL Blacklist: a project of abuse.ch with the goal of detecting malicious SSL connections

    • URL Haus: a platform from abuse.ch and Spamhaus dedicated to sharing malicious URLs that are being used for malware distribution.

    • Threat Fox: search domains, IPs, and other malicious data points.

  11. OSINT Tools for investigating US court systems -
    CourtListener is a free legal research website containing millions of legal opinions from federal and state courts. With CourtListener, lawyers, journalists, academics, and the public can research an important case, stay up to date with case law as it develops, or do deep analysis using our raw data.

    judyrecords is a 100% free nationwide search engine that lets you instantly search hundreds of millions of United States court cases and lawsuits.
    Dockets are at the heart of many legal workflows, e.g., litigation strategy, calendaring, research, business development, and calculating legal risk. Docket Alarm's aim is to provide coverage for every litigation docket, with relevant information extracted and made actionable.

    UniCourt provides access to the complete set of civil and criminal federal court records - it is a free alternative to PACER (the fee-based database of federal court records)

    Violationtracker - a wide-ranging database on corporate misconduct.

    https://www.osha.gov/ords/imis/establishment.html - search to locate OSHA enforcement inspections by establishment name

    https://court-scraper.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ - I am sorry to say that I have not yet tried out or created a guide for this Python tool, but it appears very promising

    https://openpolicedata.streamlit.app/ - aims to make it easier to access and analyze police data for 425+ incident-level datasets for about 4865 police agencies. Types of data include traffic stops, use of force, officer-involved shootings, and complaints.

    https://bkdata.com/research/ is a private database that holds information on bankruptcy cases.

    https://www.bop.gov/mobile/find_inmate/byname.jsp - federal inmate search (states have individual search databases)

    Find someone’s current and past addresses:

    (most of these are just different versions of the same thing, but the first tool on the list is different)

    Publicaccountability.org – another tool for finding someone's current and past addresses based on actual records

    The following is a list of standard “People-Search Websites” (PSW)

    fastpeoplesearch.com – searching for people, their addresses, and their phone numbers.

    1. These sites also do an amazing job of correlating data to find spouses, family members, and former cohabitants (parents, roommates, former romantic partners).

    2. You can search by name, address, phone numbers, and in some of these you can search by email address.
